The very talented Gala Shevtsov and Scott Galbraith will be joining us this July as they jump onto the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre stage to perform Fox – adapted from the book by Margaret Wild and Ron Brooks. Gala and Scott will be joined by award winning dancer, Rachel Arianne Ogle, one of Australia’s leading contemporary dancers, who will be returning to play Fox in all her ochre brilliance. Ogle’s athleticism as a dancer and spellbinding puppetry skill will captivate audiences, while Gala Shevtsov and Scott Galbraith will win hearts as devoted friends, Magpie and Dog.
Rachel Arianne Ogle
Rachel Arianne Ogle is a dance artist with an extensive career spanning 14 years. Rachel’s
investments in dance as a contemporary art form are deep and multi-faceted, encompassing
artistic roles in company and independent dance, international residencies and exchange
projects, tertiary lecturing, and a dedication to long-term projects within disability arts and
remote communities. Rachel has performed nationally and internationally with a range of Australian companies
including Melbourne’s Phillip Adams’ BalletLab, Perth’s Hydra Poesis and Buzz Dance
Theatre; with companies in Hong Kong, Europe and Africa, and with a range of independent
dance artists. Her choreographic work has been presented in Australia, France, Netherlands
and Nigeria.
Scott Galbraith
Scott Galbraith is a graduate from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance. Recently Scott has performed SUNSET a work choreographed by Punch Drunks co-director Maxine Doyle. Scott performed with Co3 Australia in The Zone created by Raewyn Hill in 2017 at the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia. He has performed in multiple shows for the Perth Fringe Festival, some of which include Shall we get comfy (2018) and If Neapolitan ice-cream could melt the sun (2018).Scott also enjoys to inspire and teach young artists and has choreographed works for Riptide Youth Theatre Company, Co3 youth ensemble and the student work season at WAAPA.
Gala Shevtsov
Gala is a theatre maker and performer with a passion for physical performance and collaboration. In 2016 she graduated from WAAPA’s Bachelor of Performing Arts (Performance Making), having previously trained at Total Theatre under Annie Stainer and in dance at the Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre and Youth Ballet WA. As part of her graduating year at WAAPA she spent 9 weeks at the Intercultural Theatre Institute in Singapore studying the ancient Sanskrit Theatre Kutiyattam. Gala has spent the past 9 years dancing with Noongar performer Phil Walley-Stack, including performances under the stars at Uluru, at the Wardarnji Festival in Fremantle, at the Chumash Indian Museum in Los Angeles, and as part of Strong at the Octagon Theatre and the Astor. At WAAPA she was a devisor/performer in The Solo Stage (2015), Hidden Traces at WA Museum (2015) I See Red at Spare Parts Puppet Theatre (2016), and The Blue Room Theatre’s season of TILT in Where the Giant Fell, which was re-developed for Fringeworld 2017. Gala is a co-creator of the work Unbound which has an Artist-in-Residency at Midland Junction Arts Centre in July/August of this year.
